Martha Williams

Martha is an “organic farmer on hiatus”, active farm educator, and self-described plant enthusiast. Her deep-rooted passion for food systems justice germinated in primary school when she grew her first bean plant. They further cultivated these interests while studying Plant Sciences as a Bachelor of Science student at Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. At this time, they co-ran a nonprofit grocery store with their fellow students, wrote garden-based learning curricula, coordinated community-based events, and interned at their home county’s Cornell Cooperative Extension office.

As a current student at Iowa State University’s M.S. Agronomy program, Martha is gaining the knowledge she needs to start a community farm that offers free food to her local community.
